Ventilation
Energy recovery ventilators
Energy recovery ventilators transfer latent energy (humidity) from the most humid air current to the driest air current, while transferring heat at the same time. During winter months, the outside air will absorb the exhaust air's humidity; during summer months, it does the reverse.
Greentek - Ventilators |
Heat recovery ventilators
Contaminated exhaust air and fresh outside air pass through the heat recovery core in separate passages that prevent air contamination or mixture. The fresh outside air then absorbs the heat and warms it up. Finally, it's distributed at a more comfortable temperature to various rooms through the ventilation system.

LoSone bath fans
These types of fans offer whisper quiet bathroom exhaust ventilation with
very low energy consumption.

ERV/HRV with HEPA filtration
Whole house HEPA filters (High Efficiency Particulate Air) are among the most effective available. They capture 99.97 percent of all particles, even those as small as 0.3 microns (a human hair is 150 microns). They help reduce allergy symptoms, asthma, recurring colds, and coughs. HEPA filters are so effective they're used in hospital operating rooms.

Filtration (indoor air quality)
Electronic air cleaners
Air returning to the furnace or air handler passes through a screen to trap large dust particles or objects. Using line voltage to power circuitry, a positive electrical charge of high voltage (upwards of 12,000 volts) is sent through fine wires stretched across the air stream immediately behind the screen. The dust particles pick up a positive charge then pass through plates or grids that are negatively charged. Opposites attract and the dust particles collect on the plates. Smoke is trapped as well. Ozone is created from the charged air, which helps kill bacteria and odors.

Electrostatic filters
Electrostatics filters produce a mild static charge, which is caused by friction of air movement. The charge causes dirt and pollutants to cling to the electrostatic air filter.

Pleated filter assemblies
Ultravation® Progressive filters are constructed with increasing fiber density from the upstream to the downstream side. They gather the largest airborne particles in the first part of the filter, progressively smaller particles through the filter, and the tiniest particles at the end of the filter. This means the filters capture and hold more dirt than standard filters. Plus, Ultravation's® 100 percent synthetic, continuous fibers are given a permanent electrostatic charge when they are manufactured. They literally attract the smallest particles and hold them in the media.

UV Lights
UV air disinfection equipment "floods" one or more areas of an HVAC system with UV light. As air circulates through the system, it is disinfected from the exposure to UV. This process rapidly and dramatically reduces airborne bacteria, viruses, and allergens.
